Using Deer Urine I was in the store recently picking J's brain for some tips that would give me an edge this hunting season. I am a novice and need all the help I can get. J was explaining to me that all deer urine is not the same. Many of the products on the market harvest deer urine for their products and throw it all in a big vat where it gets mixed together. Some experts believe that using a product made this way smells to the deer like walking into a latrine would smell to us. A few manufacturers use the urine from only one deer in each bottle of their products (Code Blue Scents is one example). That smells more natural to the deer. It is something that a buck recognizes right away and is not confusing to him.
The additional tip that J shared though was to take your bottle of deer urine and use an inexpensive, chemical hand warmer to heat it to a more natural temperature. Not only will this make the scent more natural but it will help to dissipate the scent over a larger area. More hunting tips? Email your hunting tips to info@southernsportsmanonline.com! |
